“For fifteen years, South City Community School (SCCS) has been committed to being an intentionally accessible Christian school in St. Louis, with a vision to expand its offerings to accommodate 350 students by 2035, including two classes per grade from kindergarten through eighth grade, and an enhanced preschool program. The school’s founding families, motivated by their faith and a desire to uplift under-resourced urban areas, sought to create an excellent, inclusive school that reflected the community’s diversity while fostering a love for learning through the values of beauty, sacrifice, generosity, and faith.
Since its inception, SCCS has experienced significant growth, expanding from a preschool co-op to a fully accredited K-8 institution serving 400 students from 200 families as of the 2018-2019 school year. This growth has been supported by dedicated teachers who have embraced the school’s mission and cultivated a joyful, relational educational environment. The hiring of a new head of school in the summer of 2018 signaled the start of a new chapter in SCCS’s development, focusing on economic sustainability, enhanced community partnerships, and securing a long-term home. As SCCS continues to grow, it aims to deepen its roots in the city and provide a transformative educational experience that benefits generations to come.”
